Web Design Services Nottingham
I only build content managed websites these days. I do this because, although the upfront cost is more, content-managed websites are much better value for money. See the
Content Managed VS Static Websites section of my home page for an introduction to the benefits of content management systems.
How I Do Business
The actual process of commissioning a web designer to build a website can be a little daunting for many businesses because it is such unfamiliar territory. To help ease some of that tension, I provide a start to finish explanation of how I deliver my web design services.
read on- You can contact me via phone, email, contact form, Skype, or one of my social networks. After briefly establishing your business goals and website requirements, if I think I can help I will offer you a free consultation. I will always suggest a face-to-face consultation if you are based in Nottingham, or a phone consultation if you are located further a field. If you are not local to Nottingham but would still like to arrange a face-to-face meeting, that can be arranged for a fee, payable in advance.
- During our free consultation I will answer any questions you have and construct a detailed plan for your website that will outline every element on every page of the site. I will also discuss the look and feel of your website. After the consultation, I will write up the detailed plan and calculate the total cost of the website (based on the number of hours I expect the project to take). I will email you my official website quote along with my terms of service contract for your consideration.
- I will base my fixed price quote on the least number of hours I expect the project to take, so price is unlikely to be negotiable. However, I do suggest that you browse a few of your competitors websites after receiving my official quote - just to make sure I haven't missed out any desirable features for your own website. This is important because if you later decide that you want additional pages, page elements, or functionality, the additional time I spend delivering these requirements will be chargeable.
- If you decide that you would like to commission my web design services, I take 50% of the fee upfront. If you decide not to commission my services we will say our farewells and you will owe me nothing.
- My first task in building your website will be to create a design in Photoshop. This will include a mock-up of your homepage and one typical page. If you are not 100% happy with the design at this stage, I will make the necessary adjustments until you are happy. The extra time I spend doing this will not be chargeable.
- Once you've approved the design I will start coding the website. If you later decide you want further design revisions (after initially approving the design), these revisions will be chargeable.
- The content (text, images, videos etc) is your responsibility. I can't write your content for you because you know your business best. If you think you're going to struggle writing content, or you just want to make sure that your web copy is as effective as possible, I can recommend a Nottingham Copywriter to help you.
- High quality images make a website come to life. I therefore recommend that you purchase images from iStock or enlist a professional photographer (again, I can help you with either of these tasks).
- I will add your content to the website and implement the functionality (e.g. a contact form which sends user submissions to your inbox). Once you've approved the completed website, I will invoice you for the remaining 50% of my fee. Your website will go live upon receipt of payment.
- As soon as your website goes live I will submit your site to Google, set up Google Analytics so that you can monitor your visitor's behaviour on your site, and submit your business/website to Google Places (so that you can be found in Google's new local search). I will do all of this free of charge.
- Web hosting is an essential requirement for any website. If you would like me take care of this for you, I charge a flat rate of £10 per month, payable annually (or monthly if you also opt for a support contract). I will also set up an email@yourdomain.co.uk address(es) for you as part of this service.
- I offer an optional daily, weekly, or monthly website backup service for a small fee.
- I will monitor your website's uptime free of charge if I am responsible for hosting your website so that I can get it back online as quickly as possible in the event of any downtime.
- As I have mentioned elsewhere, I always build content managed websites that clients can update themselves. This requires some training. The cost of this training will be included in the overall cost. I will usually suggest somewhere between 2 and 6 hours training depending on your IT experience. The training will include an introduction to Google Analytics so that you can understand what Google's reports tell you about visitors to your website.
- I will not expect you to remember everything I tell you during your initial website training session. I provide free phone support for 2 months following training. After this period, you can opt for a monthly support contract which entitles you to website support services at a reduced hourly rate.
